Photographs: FG gives FRSC authorities power to convey arms while on obligation
The Federal Government has allowed authorities of the Federal Road Safety Commission FRSC, the power to convey arms while on obligation. Corps Marshal and Chief Executive of FRSC, Boboye Oyeyemi, revealed this while talking toward the end of the year administration procedure session for the parastatal in Abuja this end of the week.
As per Oyeyemi, the requirement for the officers to carry weapons emerged from the expanded number of savage assaults and murdering of some of its agents while on obligation. As indicated by Oyeyemi, more than 70 of its work force have been slaughtered in 2016 alone as an aftereffect of vicious assaults by furious drivers. Oyeyemi said the FRSC Establishment Act offers energy to the corps to remain battle ready and that the Federal Government had before endorsed that, with around 5,000 work force as of now experiencing preparing on guns.
"The Act offers energy to the Corps to remain battle ready and 5,000 of our work force have been prepared. We are simply sitting tight for the approval of the prior endorsement. Unfortunately, inside the one year, we have lost 70 work force. It is pitiful to note that some executing and mutilating of agents, including one from a sister office in close cooperation with the Corps were over the span of authority obligations. A late event was the incident in Talata Mafara, Zamfara State where a driver kept running into the Mobile Court in session, slaughtering three agents in a split second while a Civil Defense agent kicked the bucket later as an aftereffect of wounds maintained in the devious act"he said]
